Away With Me| Casual Maxi

One of my favourite things to do while away is just to walk around town, not necessarily shop, but just to lust over the sights and sounds.
In Lagos I fell in love with the tiles, there are beautiful tiled buildings everywhere. I found out this was due to the Moor influence when the Algarve was invaded in the 1500, The tiled style was brought over from the Middle East ( A little bit of a history lesson for you all!)
Against a white washed back drop beautiful tiles add that extra spice. I've been getting all kinds of influences for my new kitchen!

  13. Hi Patricia! First of all, I want to say I love your style! Secondly, I always feel happy when I see people travelling to my country, Portugal.

However, as a Portuguese and as History of Art student I feel the need to correct you on the date you mention. Portugal (before its independence) was invaded by the moors around 711. Serious military action to fight them really took place in the late XI/early XII centuries. Portugal became an independent country in 1143, and the moors were completely gone by 1249 (in Spain, however, they only disappeared in the late XV century). However, we did retain some of their traditions, culture and aesthetics, mostly in the South. As you might have noticed, a lot of the southern cities' names begin with "Al", which are names we've kept from that time. We have also collected other influences from the XV century onwards, when we began the Age of Discoveries all around the world!

I hope this helps, and I sincerely hope this is not offensive in any way, as I really don't intend it that way!

  14. Hey guys, would appreciate if you check out my blog. :)
